An airport is an aerodrome with extended facilities, mostly for commercial air transport. It usually consists of a landing area where aircraft takes place to take off and land.
Aviation ranking website 'Skytrax' has recently released a list of the best airports around the world. This list has been prepared on the basis of the ranking given by the travelers.
1. Singapore Changi Airport: It is one of the busiest passenger hubs for south east Asia, and is renowned for its unrivalled passenger experiences. It is Hub for FedEx Express, Jetstar Asia Airways, Singapore Airlines.
2. Hamad International Airport: It is the international airport for Doha, the airport has been described as the most architecturally significant terminal, as well as being the most luxurious. It is the hub airport for Qatar Airways.
3.Tokyo Haneda International Airport: It is Japan’s busiest airport being located less than 30 minutes south of central Tokyo. The airport has three terminals: Terminal 1, Terminal 2 and the international Terminal 3. It is Hub for Japan Airlines, All Nippon Airways.
4. Incheon International Airport: It is the largest airport in South Korea. It is a former winner of the Airport of the Year title at the World Airport Awards. Incheon International Airport was named the winner of World's Best Transit Airport. It is a Hub for Asiana Airlines, FedEx Express, Korean Air, Polar Air Cargo.
5. Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport: It is the largest international airport in France. The Airport serves as the principal hub for Air France, Air France Cargo, FedEx Express. It is also known as Roissy Airport or Paris CDG.
6. Istanbul Airport: It is the main international airport serving Istanbul, Turkey. It is the primary hub for Turkish Airlines, Turkish Airlines Cargo. The airport currently has one terminal in service for domestic and international flights and five runways (three main and two backups) that are currently in operation.
7. Munich Airport: It is the second busiest airport in Germany and the secondary hub for Lufthansa German Airlines. With over 150 retail stores and some 50 places where you can eat and drink, it’s like a city centre, offering travelers and visitors plenty to see and do.
8. Zurich Airport: It is the busiest airport in Switzerland, and is the primary hub of Swiss International Air Lines, it is located 12 km from downtown Zurich. The Airport has three terminals and three runways, with all world class amenities and facilities, Zurich airport is among the best airports in the world.
9.Tokyo Narita Airport: It is an international airport serving the Greater Tokyo Area of Japan. Narita was also the second-busiest airport in Japan in terms of aircraft movements and the tenth-busiest air freight hub in the world. Narita serves as the main international hub of Japan Airlines, All Nippon Airways and Nippon Cargo Airlines, and as a hub for low-cost carriers Jetstar Japan and Peach.
10. Madrid Barajas Airport: It is the main airport of Madrid, and as the hub airport for Iberia, it is an important connection point for flights between Europe and Latin America. The airport has five passenger terminals. The airport itself has medical rooms and medical personnel attached to the Airport Medical Service to cover transit passengers who need medical attention.
Above 10 Airports are according to the Skytrax World Airport Awards where Singapore's Changi Airport has pushed Doha's Hamad International Airport to the second spot, and Japan's capital Tokyo's Haneda Airport is third. The Skytrax World Airport Awards are decided on the basis of customer satisfaction, their experience.
